Radu Cristian Popa received a MSc in Electrical Engineering (Applied Electronics) from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (1989), and a PhD in Quantum Engineering and Systems Science at University of Tokyo (1998).
|
He was assistant professor in Electrical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (1991- 2001), and Senior Researcher at the Science Solutions Intn. Lab., Inc., Tokyo (1998-2003), where he conducted industrial research projects, mainly in numerical modeling and analysis of complex phenomena and devices. 2003-2006, he was invited researcher at the University of Tuebingen, Germany and then became Development Director at Neurostar, GmbH, Germany, designing and developing hardware and software solutions for functional neurosurgery and neuroscience systems related to brain microelectrode exploration and recording, and medical imaging. Radu Popa joined IMT Bucharest in 2007 and is presently director of the Center for Integrated Systems Nanotechnologies And Carbon Based Nanomaterials, that is currently under development at IMT-Bucharest. Main scientific interests include electronic transport analysis and sensing solutions for single-molecule identification. |

Antonio Marian Radoi ([email protected])
He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemistry in 2001 and 2003, respectively, both from Universitatea din Bucuresti, Bucharest, Romania. In 2006 he received the PhD degree in Chemistry from the Tor Vergata University, Rome, Italy. Since 2007 he was a postdoctoral researcher (ATER) at the Université de Perpignan Via Domitia, Perpignan, France.

He joined in 2009 the Molecular Nanotechnology Lab (L9) at the National Institute for Research and Development in Microtechnologies.
Currently his research activity is focused on biosensors, electroanalysis, nanoscience & nanotechnology.

Lucia Monica Veca ([email protected])
She holds a B.S. degree in chemistry from Babes-Bolyai University (1999), a M.S. degree in materials science and engineering from University of Pitesti (2001), and a PhD degree in chemistry from Clemson University (2009). She joined the National Institute for Research and Development in Microtechnologies IMT-Bucharest in 2010, working as Research Scientist in the Laboratory for Molecular Nanotechnology.

From 2005 to 2009, while pursuing her PhD, she has developed carbon nano-materials with improved electrical, thermal and optical properties, under the mentorship of Prof. Ya-Ping Sun. For her doctoral research accomplishments she has been awarded the 2009 Outstanding Graduate Researcher and 2008 Graduate Research Incentive Program Award, by the department of Chemistry at Clemson University. She has authored and coauthored 17 peer-reviewed articles, 1 review article and 4 chapters in books on nanomaterials. Her research interest focuses on the synthesis, electronic and optical properties of carbon based nano-scale functional materials with applications in optoelectronics and biology or medicine. Her other scientific interests revolves around the molecular assembly of nanomaterials and organic molecules.

Titus Sandu ([email protected])
He obtained a BSc in Physics (1989) and Mathematics (1997) from the University of Bucharest, and a MS (1999) and a PhD (2002) in physics from Texas A&M University in USA.
He held postdoctoral positions at the University of Texas at Arlington, Electrical Engineering Department, from January 2003 to May 2003, at Arizona State University

Chemical and Materials Engineering Department, from May 2003 to June 2005, and the University of Montreal in Canada, Chemistry Department, Canada, from July 2005 to July 2007.Since July 2010, Dr. Titus Sandu is a senior researcher at IMT-Bucharest.
Research interests and experience include: electronic structure and optical properties of materials (crystals, molecules and low dimensional nanostructures); ab-initio and empirical methods; quantum transport in nanostructures; ab-initio molecular dynamics (Car-Parrinello); computational plasmonics; dielectric response of living cells; dynamical systems; computational Physics.
He coordinated the national funded Ideas project “Dielectric modeling of biological cells and heterostructures by using efficient algorithms for boundary integral methods" (PNII 2007-2010).
Currently, he is involved in a post-doctoral program funded by the EU with a Micro- and Nanotechnology topic regarding the interaction of low-dimensional systems with electromagnetic/phonon fields (2010-2013).

Cristina Pachiu ([email protected])
She is senior researcher at IMT-Bucuresti since 2004 and she was awarded the physics-engineering degree of the University of Bucharest (Romania- Faculty of Physics) in 2001 and the Ph.D. degree in Physics – acoustics field in 2007 at the University of Le Havre –France (Laboratoire Ondes et Milieux Complexes FRE CNRS 3102, 76610 Le Havre, France). |
Her main research interest it has been the interaction of ultrasonic guided waves with structural discontinuities or defects (welded joint, bonding, surface roughness), the modeling of acoustic structures, using the finite element method, new devices for high-frequency applications and smart materials piezoelectric.
She held a postdoctoral position with the main focus being the propagation of ultrasonic wave in periodically structured materials (phononic crystals – P.C.): study of the propagation properties of ultrasonic waves for the characterization of the physical parameters of PC, detection and fault location for the nondestructive evaluation of phononic structures; modeling and identification of interactions sensors - wave – phononic materials; multidimensional treatment (time - frequency - wave vector - position) for these materials.
She coordinated three national projects (Nucleu and Infratech Programme):“Packaging technology for pressure sensors in home applications - Technology Transfer” Infratech (2006-2007); ”System in Package for gas sensors with the applications in CH4 and CO2 monitoring processes - Technology Transfer” (2007-2008); “Developmentmicro and nanostructures for DNA detection: design, modeling/simulation andmicro fabrication” (2006-2008). |
